Manx Care’s performance during 2023-24, along with its Annual Report for 2023-24, will be discussed during the November sitting of Tynwald.
The assessment is based on data gathered during the year and Manx Care’s reporting through the annual report.
It provides an overview of how Manx Care has performed against its objectives set by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
The review is based only on the previous year. For 2023-24 it demonstrates a broad number of the objectives have been met, but also outlines some areas where delivery was not as expected.
Manx Care Perfomance
Notably, a new category of ‘not rated’ has been introduced on the delivery table, this is for projects or issues outside of Manx Care’s control that affected the delivery of certain actions, even though the expected work was done.
There was significant progress in improving care pathways in Urgent and Emergency Integrated Care (UEIC), Intermediate Care service, Hear and Treat, and preparations for the Ambulatory Assessment and Treatment Unit (AATU) and See and Treat service.
These changes, which are now in place, aim to reduce demand on the ambulance service and hospital, and improve patient outcomes and experience.

Chief Minister, acting Minister for Health and Social Care, said: “I look forward to the debate around these documents in November Tynwald. This process of assessment allows constructive dialogue and for us to be clear and transparent about challenges with delivery in some areas.
“Whilst there has been considerable progress there is still much to do to address the level of service required to meet current demand. This needs to be balanced with effective financial management and controls and I know the Manx Care Board are committed to further change and improvement.
“I am keen to hear from my colleagues in Tynwald in November about how we can continue to build on our progress and address the challenges ahead with a strategic and collaborative approach.”
