Manx Care Yet to Finalise Allocation of Additional Funds

Manx Care has not yet determined how the additional funding approved in this year’s Budget will be divided across its directorates and care groups.

The clarification came in response from Health and Social Care Minister Claire Christian MHK to a written Tynwald question from Juan Watterson MHK, who asked how the extra funds voted for Manx Care would be split.

Minister Christian said Manx Care is still finalising its indicative divisional budgets for the 2026/27 financial year, following the approval of a total operational allocation of £404.1 million at February’s Tynwald sitting.

Allocation Not Finalised

She said the distribution of the additional funding “has not yet been finalised,” with work ongoing to ensure allocations align with the priorities set out in Manx Care’s Mandate and Operating Plan for 2026/27.

These priorities include Home First, early intervention, prevention, and the delivery of safe and effective care.

As part of the process, Manx Care has held “check‑and‑challenge sessions” with clinical leadership teams across each division.

Indicative budgets will be allocated across seven divisions:

  • Unscheduled Care
  • Scheduled Care
  • Ambulance and Patient Transfers
  • Community, Primary Care and Therapies
  • Mental Health
  • Social Care
  • Corporate Services

Final divisional budgets, including the apportionment of the additional funds, are expected to be agreed in April 2026, once the assurance process is complete.
