Bagpipers of the Isle of Man are participating in a ‘pipers countdown’ to the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6.
Members of Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums will take part in the countdown along with the UK and Channel Islands.
The Manx pipers will be playing loud and proud from May 28 – June 6:

- May 31 – Sheila Quaggin, Port Soderick, Help for Heroes

- June 3 – Jane Falconer, Onchan Head
- June 4 – Jane Falconer, Douglas War Memorial
- June 5 – Fiona Hill, Jurby Church war graves
- June 6 – Alistair Lothian, St John’s Isle of Man National War Memorial
The campaign has been organised by the son and grandson of Piper Bill Millin, who played as he led the 1st Commando Brigade ashore on the beach of Normandy as part of the D-Day landings.
