Manx Riders Impress at Royal International

Three Manx riders travelled to the south of England to compete at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show.

Anna Higgins rode her own Millmount Maestro at his first RI in his first season of competing in open classes, and was the youngest horse in the class.

Higgins said: “The aim was to get through the finish and we did just that with a few poles along the way! I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

The pair finished their RI debut with a spin round the amateur lightweight hunter.

Lola Bass and Ralph were also in action at the show in Sussex.

Earlier in the week the pair had an unfortunate fall in the 153cm WHP where Ralph lost his feet and slipped over.

The pair regrouped, and later in the week jumped a lovely round in the intermediates to finish 4th.

Abby Kirkpatrick took her two horses The Real McCoy and Magnus Amor.

The Real McCoy rolled one pole in the working hunter, and RI debutant Magus Amor had two poles down.

Speaking of Magus Amor, Abby said: “He was so brave and definitely rose to the occasion for his first big show.”
