Manx Squad Battle Europe’s Best

The Isle of Man women’s squash team has returned from Luxembourg after competing in the ESF European Team Division 3 Championships 2026.

The three women took on six emerging squash nations in a demanding round‑robin format.

The squad, Dasa Brynjolffssen, Hannah Dixon and Clare Townsend, opened strongly with a team victory over Gibraltar, thanks to 3–0 wins from Brynjolffssen and Dixon.

Townsend, carrying a back injury and with no reserves available, delivered a competitive performance before narrowly losing her match.

Europe’s Best

Across the following days the Manx players faced higher‑ranked opposition from Malta, Croatia, Luxembourg, Austria and Greece. While results proved tougher, the team ended the tournament positively, with all three players taking a game in their final fixture against Greece.

Malta and Luxembourg finished first and second overall, securing promotion to Division 2.

Speaking after the event, Dixon said it was “a real honour” to represent the island and praised the atmosphere and standard of competition. Townsend added that the experience was invaluable for player development and hoped it would inspire more people, particularly juniors, to take up the sport.

The team thanked sponsors DBD International, Kissack Care Ltd, Capital International Group, and supporters who contributed via their JustGiving campaign.

Isle of Man Squash continues to welcome new players, with weekly Saturday morning adult sessions and a strong junior coaching programme.
