Manxman is to go into dry dock for inspections and maintenance and will also do berthing trials at the new terminal in Liverpool from the end of this month.
The Ben-my-Chree is currently scheduled to provide services on the Heysham route for about two weeks from Sunday September 29.
Just the Ben used to do, Manxman will enter a short dry dock to undergo a comprehensive inspection of all parts of the vessel and complete a number of warranty items including inspection of the underwater areas and bow thrusters.
A permanent repair on the damage Manxman sustained while docking at Heysham Port during high winds recently will also be completed.
Liverpool
As well as the surveys and maintenance, Manxman will carry out berthing trials at the Liverpool terminal in preparation for the start of its winter service.
Berthing trials are a mandatory procedure, requiring approaching and mooring on the new berth at varying states of tide, river and weather conditions.

Ben-my-Chree is scheduled to take over all Heysham sailings starting with the 8pm sailing from Douglas on Sunday, September 29.
Berthing trials in Liverpool for Ben-my-Chree are yet to be scheduled. As the vessel’s mooring lay out and stern ramp height is similar to that of Manxman, if Manxman trials are successful, it is expected that only minimal trials will be required.
