McRae Mesmerises at Cathedral

Tom McRae returned to Peel last week, almost fifteen years to the day since his last visit.

This time the glorious Peel Cathedral made the perfect backdrop to what turned out to be a two hour journey through the emotive, captivating journey that left the audience spellbound from the first note to the last.

Attended by the Lieutenant Governor Sir John and Lady Lorimer, this was the 54th performance in less than six weeks, undertaken throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe of the étrange hiver tour.

Tom is knowledgeable on the acoustics of church buildings in general and engaged with the audience away from the stage on several occasions.

Tom McRae Performs

He offered an intimate up close performance, and it was well received judging from the warm welcome the enthused crowd gave him throughout the night.

Saint Shy, a local duo, gave a credible performance despite an early sound gremlin.

Chris Glaister’s lighting and Mannin Sound’s Dave Rowles were able to transform the cathedral into a place of magic and wonder for the evening.

This was Triskel’s Encore, which is turning out to be a return to form, picking the very best artistes in great settings.
