Onchan MHK Rob Callister has challenged the Isle of Man Post Office over its announced service changes, expressing concern for the future of local sub-post offices.
His post on Facebook follows an IOMPO press release detailing changes from April, which will centralise transactions like TV licence purchases and government charge payments to five locations, excluding Onchan.
Mr Callister has published his email to the Post Office’s Executive Team, saying: “I have raised concerns about the future of the sub‑post offices within our constituency – services that have supported our community for many, many years.”

In the correspondence, he directly questions the strategy, asking: “Could you please clarify why my constituents will now need to travel to Douglas to obtain a TV license, pay utility bills, or settle government charges?”
He further seeks urgent clarification on whether the plan is to close all offices beyond the five listed, and queries “the future viability of independent Isle of Man Post Offices beyond 2026”.
Mr Callister also highlighted practical worries for residents, citing “the £650 cap on invoice payments and the requirement for residents to contact utility companies directly for amounts exceeding this limit, as this may not be feasible for everyone”.
