How much is the proposed, and to be fair quite controversial at this stage, onshore windfarm going to cost?
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will pose that very question to MUA chair John Wannenburgh tomorrow.
Mr Moorhouse will question what the total spend on the proposed windfarm is at May 1; and what the final projected spend will be.
Way back in 2023 Manx Utilities were giving a “rough cost” estimate of up to £40m after initial reports had suggested a figure of £23m.

So far, we know that more than £3m has been spent on consultants.
The breakdown, dated April 30 2025, shows £3,138,932.97 spent on environmental, legal, planning, and other consultancy services.
The French
Mr Moorhouse will also be asking what impact a ruling by a French court will have on the plans.
He will ask Mr Wannenbugh what consideration has been given to the French court ruling fining EDF Renewables for protected bird and bat fatalities by wind turbines
The scheme as a whole divides opinion strongly because supporters, who cite the need to move away from fossil fuels for both environmental and energy security reasons to opponents who doubt both the location and the price at a time when public finances is under intense scrutiny.
