A Douglas North MHK has written to the Education Minister asking her department to reconsider removing Davisons Ice Cream from the new school menus.
John Wannenburgh emailed the Education Minister Daphne Caine regarding the new school menus.
He believes that by removing Davisons Ice Cream “DESC has used a hammer to crack a walnut”.
Mr Wannenburgh asked the Minister that her department “reconsiders this decision, even if in the first instance, it is brought back on a limited basis”.
Bring Back Davisons
In his email he added: “As parents you and I both know that the pupils would love it (childhood is for enjoyment after all, the pressures of adulthood will be upon them all too soon), and it would also be to the advantage of an award winning local producer, who himself has children of school-going age, as no doubt will his staff.
“I do not need to tell you how challenging the hospitality sector is at present. Please note that I have no connection with Davison’s, and they have not lobbied me in any way.”
