A Glenfaba and Peel MHK has welcomed the planning committee’s refusal of plans for telegraph poles for the fibre rollout.
Kate Lord-Brennan welcomed the rejection of 18 poles across sites in Peel.
All of Manx Telecom’s applications were rejected by the committee despite a planning officer recommending their approval.
The committee said the cables should be placed underground rather than on the poles.
Ms Lord Brennan said: “I have been very happy to help and support constituents in their rightful opposition to these proposals.
“The Planning Committee are absolutely right to be consistent in their decision making on telegraph pole applications, and to emphasise existing policy on streetscape and the need for a up to date, less intrusive approach for telecoms infrastructure.”
Douglas North MHKs John Wannenburgh and David Ashford previously praised the planning committee for rejecting proposals to install telegraph poles in Tromode.
