Locate Isle of Man which costs taxpayers over £600k a year has delivered millions of online views, but only a relatively small number of confirmed relocations.
In a written answer, Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston set out the results of Locate Isle of Man, an agency tasked with attracting workers, investors and new residents to the island.
The headline numbers point to large-scale marketing reach. In 2025, Locate generated 8.6million social media impressions, alongside 217,000 website sessions and 866,000 page views, while handling around 1,300 enquiries annually.
Locate’s Outcomes
However, the conversion of that interest into tangible outcomes appears far more limited.
Since January 2024, Locate has supported the relocation of 27 high net-worth individuals, expected to generate around £2.7million a year in tax. A further 51 cases remain ongoing.
In terms of business activity, 50 migrant-led businesses are being monitored, linked to 75 jobs created and £3.76million in salaries, with £3.9million in projected investment.
Efforts aimed at younger workers show similarly modest results. Between 2023 and 2025, Locate’s events attracted 804 attendees, resulting in 104 reported hires, an average of around 35 per year.
Figures?
Campaigns tied to major events such as the TT produced around 750 “leads”, while a talent database holds 4,500 potential candidates, though no figures were given on how many ultimately took up jobs.
The agency also claimed success in filling public sector roles in areas such as healthcare and teaching, but did not provide specific recruitment totals.
