Children from Hopes & Dreams Childcare Group have been praised as “little legends” after raising over £630 for Sight Matters by taking part in a sponsored walk.
The event, a junior version of the annual Coast 2 Coast challenge, was held at the Freedom Field.
Organisers reported that “just like the main event, the rain came down in buckets – but it didn’t stop the kids from giving it their all”.
Each child completed five laps of the field. The charity said the group’s efforts resulted in “an incredible £632.12 for Sight Matters.”

Spirit
The participants were cheered on by the charity’s mascot, Eye-Ris. Sight Matters said the mascot “was very impressed with their effort and spirit.”
Commenting on photographs from the day, a spokesperson noted, “you can really see the determination (and the fun!) shining through.”
The charity added: “What an amazing achievement – we’re so proud of you all! Thank you.”
