The Manx Utilities Authority is reminding visitors to act responsibly at the island’s reservoir sites following an increase in dog fouling.
Daily inspections by Manx Utilities staff have recorded more dog waste being left at several locations, particularly at Clypse, Kerrowdhoo and Cringle Reservoirs, with Cringle identified as the most affected.
The MUA says while reservoirs are popular recreational areas, some also form part of the island’s operational drinking water supply.

Clypse and Kerrowdhoo Reservoirs play a vital role in providing high-quality drinking water, making it essential to keep surrounding catchment areas clean to protect public water quality.
Manx Utilities acknowledges that many dog owners already act responsibly but is asking for everyone’s cooperation to keep sites safe, clean and welcoming.
Dog walkers are reminded to clean up after their pets using the bags and bins provided, keep dogs under effective control, and prevent them from entering reservoir water for hygiene and safety reasons.
Uncollected dog waste can contaminate catchment areas and affect other visitors’ enjoyment. Failure to comply with the relevant by-law may result in a penalty of up to £2,500.
Temporary notices and additional signage will be installed to reinforce the message.
