Neil Vondy of Northern AC has finished in eighth place in the final of the Men’s 60 age group 200 metres at the European Masters Athletics Championships in Madeira.
Neil, running in lane 1, ran a time of 26.46 seconds, compared with 26.45 in the heat and 26.15 in Thursday’s (October 16) semi-final.
Writing on his Facebook page, Neil said: “Not the finish I was hoping for in the European 200m Final — it was a tough field, especially with the winner running 24.88 seconds!
“Two races in one day, plus a relay meeting tonight definitely made it a long day! I am still hugely grateful for the experience and excited to be running 4th leg for Great Britain in the 4x100m Men’s Relay Team Final on Saturday! Proud to represent GB, but always proud to be Manx!”
