Government House has announced Claire Whiteway as the new Captain of the Parish of Arbory.
Mrs Whiteway succeeds Mr Ray Gawne CP, who has chosen to step down after nearly 30 years in the role.
Mr Gawne has carried out the duties of Captain with dignity and dedication since July 1998, and His Excellency is grateful for his long and distinguished service to the parish.
Mrs Whiteway grew up in a dairy farming family and is well known within the island’s agricultural community.
She was actively involved in the Southern Young Farmers for many years and more recently served as President of the Southern District Agricultural Society.
Mrs Whiteway will be sworn in as Captain of the Parish of Arbory at a ceremony at Government House later this month.
