New Community Projects Sought

Culture Vannin is encouraging individuals and community groups to apply for grant support following the completion of a new interpretation board for the St Mark’s Heritage Trail.

The locally designed board, now installed in the centre of St Mark’s, gives visitors a focal point as they explore the 21‑site trail, which charts 250 years of cultural change in the hamlet.

The project was led by Mike Norrey, who said the board forms part of a wider effort to share the area’s history through online resources.

Culture Vannin Vice Chair Chris Williamson said the trail shows how local initiative, backed by funding, can strengthen community identity.

The charity’s grants support a broad range of cultural activity, from history and crafts to ecology, music and academic research.

Operations Officer Becky McSevney said applications are welcome from individuals, groups and organisations on or off‑Island, with typical awards ranging from £500 to £5,000. The Board meets quarterly to review bids.
