Nine serious incidents involving alleged delays in actioning test results have been reported to the Serious Incident Review Group over the past three years.
The figures were released in response to a written Tynwald question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson, who asked the Health and Social Care Minister how many such cases had been formally reviewed.
Minister Claire Christian MHK said the nine incidents were recorded across three years, with the numbers remaining low and relatively stable:
- 2023/24: 3 incidents
- 2024/25: 4 incidents
- 2025/26: 2 incidents
The Serious Incident Review Group is responsible for examining cases where patient safety may have been compromised, identifying contributing factors and ensuring learning is fed back into clinical practice.
