The Cabinet Office says it has no information on what “positive progress” referred to in a 2024 email from Manx Telecom.
The company used the phrase “positive progress” when withdrawing four planning appeals relating to telecoms infrastructure.
Glenfaba & Peel MHK Kate Lord‑Brennan asked what that progress was, and whether it involved any other Government department.
The email, dated 29 October 2024 and published as part of planning appeal AP24/0024 (Ballaterson Fields), also referenced the withdrawal of appeals at Ballasteen, Larivane Close and Ballalough Estate.
In his written reply, Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford said the correspondence did not specify what the “positive progress” was, and the Cabinet Office holds no further information on the matter.
He confirmed the Cabinet Office was aware Manx Telecom had been in discussions with the Department for Enterprise at the time, but the email did not attribute the progress to those discussions or to any involvement from other departments.
