Activities held in Ramsey at the weekend helped volunteers raise £1,515.15 for the Pier’s Restoration Trust.
As part of 125th anniversary of the electric tram from Laxey to Ramsey, a vintage bus provided transport for visitors to get around Ramsey.
One of the stops for the bus from the Jurby Transport Heritage Museum was at the Queens Pier.
Train on the Pier
The charity has just received its certification to operate the pier train, and on Sunday (August 4) it saw the train operating over the 70 metres of track that has been restored.
The charity says that the train was “non-stop for the first 3 hours”.
After the three hours, the train stopped operating and bay one was laid out for the Ukulele group.
The group entertained the visitors and encouraged them to join in with music and song for an hour, which the charity says “went down extremely well”.
Due to the train’s popularity the charity was encouraged to run it for another hour before the weather finally came in.
The train will now be running every Sunday afternoon unless other entertainment arranged.
