Over 30 RTC’s Involving R-Plate Drivers

Over the past three years there have been more than 30 road traffic collisions involving R plate drivers.

In response to a written question, Minister for the Department of Home Affairs revealed there have been 31 RTC’s involving R plate drivers since 2022.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse asked the Minister Jane Poole Wilson about R plate drivers.

He asked in each of the last three years, how many R plate drivers have been stopped by the Constabulary and how many have been involved in accidents.

In Mrs Poole-Wilson’s response she said that “data is not collated on R plate drivers who are stopped by the Constabulary unless they have been required to produce documents or have been involved in an incident”.

The following information is recorded where R plate drivers have been involved in an injury road traffic collision from January 1 to December 31 each year:

• 2022 – 14 RTCs

• 2023 – 15 RTCs

• 2024 – 13 RTCs

• 2025 (year to date) – 16 RTCs
