Packet’s New Route ‘Warmly Received’

MV Ben My Chree

The launch of a new strategic ferry link between Larne and the Isle of Man has been “warmly received” by the public and business, according to the Steam Packet.

A Steam Packet delegation, led by MD Brian Thomson, attended the three-day event  Holiday World Show alongside partners from Visit Isle of Man.

They reported strong interest in the three-times-weekly service, which begins in late July 2026.

As well as taking “a number of bookings for tours and travel operators”, the company also used it to promote strategic offers including the headline ‘Kids Go Free’ policy.

The expo saw attendance from key Northern Irish stakeholders, including the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Jackson Minford, whose constituency includes Larne Port.

The route is part of a two-year commitment to enhanced Irish services, responding to customer feedback, with Ben-my-Chree undergoing a major refit to serve the Ireland routes, providing five weekly sailings in peak season.

The company is next taking its travelling roadshow to a sister event in Dublin.
