Sight Matters Launches 90 Year Anniversary Challenge

Sight Matters will mark its 90th anniversary in 2026 with a year long community challenge supporting people with sight loss across the Isle of Man.

The local charity, which has supported blind and visually impaired people on the island since 1936, is inviting individuals, schools, workplaces and community groups to take part in ’90 For 90′, an anniversary challenge inspired by the numbers nine and 90.

Participants can choose their own activities, from walking nine miles a week or cycling 90 miles, to volunteering 90 hours or hosting a 90 themed event.

Charity Challenge

Founded as the Manx Blind Welfare Society, Sight Matters was established at a time when support for people with sight loss was limited and isolation was common.

Over nine decades, the organisation has evolved into a key provider of practical help, information and services, often described by service users as a lifeline.

The 90 For 90 challenge will run throughout 2026, with participants able to join at any point during the year and take part for as long as they wish.

Funds raised will help Sight Matters continue supporting blind and visually impaired people of all ages across the Isle of Man.

The charity is encouraging participants to share their plans so achievements can be celebrated during the anniversary year.

Further details on how to get involved and fundraise are available via the Sight Matters website and social media channels.
