The Education Department has asked for people to use appropriate channels for raising concerns or providing feedback.
The Department said it is aware of comments and statements that have been made online recently, but has asked that these are addressed through the appropriate channels available, either via the school or the Department.
In recent weeks parents have called out schools for publicly shaming children who can’t afford to pay for dress down days, for being less than transparent about where money raised on these days is spent and, in a shocking claim, of a teacher shaming a child with dyslexia in front of their friends.
The department said that raising issues through official channels “will ensure that we are able to establish what may have occurred and resolve concerns as soon as possible”.
However, with the alleged incidents involving St Ninian’s High School, parents say they have contacted the school and its headteacher, but have either been disappointed by the response or received no reply.

A spokesperson said: “Now that the schools have returned after the half-term break, the department wishes to remind the public that its staff members are dedicated professionals committed to serving the community and that constructive dialogue and mutual respect are essential for fostering a positive environment for students, staff, parents and the wider community.
“The department is committed to ensuring the wellbeing of the entire school community and asks that individuals refrain from public shaming or harassment that targets our staff or students on social media.
“The naming of individuals on social media has a negative impact on both their professional and personal lives and can cause significant distress.”
