Manx Care will welcome its new Medical Director Dr Chris Stockport to his role at the start of next month.
Dr Stockport, who qualified as a GP over 20 years ago, has relocated to the island and will be taking up post on March 3.
During a career of over 25 years he has worked in, and provided medical director leadership across primary, community and hospital healthcare settings.
New Role
Dr Stockport comes to the Isle of Man from a large, integrated, Health Board setting in Wales where he has been an experienced Board level Executive Director.
Prior to that, Dr Stockport was an Area Medical Director where he led a number of transformational initiatives that better integrated services, and also the different clinical groups.
His work in this area lead to a short deployment with the World Health Organisation in Poland, and a UK Research Fellowship following bilateral exchange work with local healthcare services in Brazil.
Medical Director
As a GP Dr Stockport was an Advanced GP Trainer and GP Training Programme Director.
Dr Stockport’s professional interests are varied but include training and education, rural healthcare, multidisciplinary working, innovation and the concept of person-centred, value-based care.
Never Stand Still
Commenting on his new role, he said: “I am delighted to be joining Manx Care and moving to the Isle of Man.
“The Isle of Man has an excellent Health and Social care system but continued healthcare innovation and changing population needs mean that healthcare services have to continually evolve and can never stand still.
“I believe passionately about the integration of services as part of that journey which makes the work in Manx Care particularly exciting.
