Aer Lingus has announced that passengers travelling between the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland will need a valid passport or Irish passport card from tomorrow.
It means that forms of photo ID previously accepted on the route, such as a driver’s licence, will no longer be valid.
The change, which takes effect on Wednesday (February 25), applies to all customers flying on Aer Lingus Regional services between the Isle of Man and Dublin.
The airline confirmed that the new requirements will apply to all passengers.
An Aer Lingus spokesperson said: “All customers (including Irish or British nationals) travelling on Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional services between the Republic of Ireland and the UK will now require a valid passport or Irish passport card.
“The other forms of photo ID (driver’s licence, etc.) previously accepted will no longer be valid for travel.”
In response to a query regarding the Isle of Man, the carrier clarified: “All customers (including Irish or British nationals) flying with Aer Lingus Regional to/from the Isle of Man will require a valid passport or Irish passport card.”
Passengers travelling on domestic services within the UK, such as Belfast to other UK cities, or on the Dublin to Donegal route, are exempt from the updated policy.
