A person has died after a collision with a car on the Whitebridge Road in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3:30am.
Sadly, despite efforts to save the person, they were pronounced deceased an hour later at Nobles Hospital.
A police spokesperson said: “An investigation into the collision has been commenced by Police and the driver is assisting police with enquiries. Police have now opened the road again to the public.
“Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family and friends of the deceased and we would urge the public to refrain from public judgement or assumption to show respect to the family and friends at this difficult time.”
The road was closed for several hours between Barroose Road and Bibaloe Beg Road.
