Places Closed, Things Cancelled

Storm Éowyn is here and as a result of this there have been a lot of things cancelled today and a lot of places are staying closed at least for the morning.

As much as we try, this won’t be an exhaustive list, but if we’ve missed you out, please add it to the comments on Facebook.

Schools

All closed. Don’t feel too jealous of the teachers though, I know they have lesson planning and other fun activities to get on with 🙂

Buses

There will be no Bus Vannin services between 7am and 2pm.

Manx Care

Most doctors appointments are cancelled, find all you need to know below:

Government and Stuff

Government counters are closed, so are the amenity sites etc.

Most bin collections today are being done tomorrow or Monday, check with your local authority.

No Way Out

If you were planning to get off the island this morning, it isn’t going to happen.

All of today’s sailings are cancelled, but Manxman will be back in Douglas early Saturday morning, she is in Heysham and will be leaving at 1:45am tonight.

Down at Ronaldsway the runway and terminal are closed until at least 4pm, but we hope to bring you an update later on today.

Roads

As it stands, the Mountain Road is the only road closed (at the time of writing, don’t @ me).

On that downed trees which are causing travel disruption should be reported to the DoI on 672000 and if you find any downed power lines, don’t do something stupid like approach or touch them, just ring Manx Utilities on 687687.

Basically, don’t go out if you don’t have to, save that for the emergency services, utilities workers and journalists, who are largely expendable anyway, who are sent out to film trees swaying.

Businesses

There are so many here, too many to list, M&S is closed until the afternoon, there’s loads others, but really if you can avoid going out until this afternoon, do.
