The government’s new proposed health tax would be capped at £5,000 for individuals and £10,000 for couples, the Treasury Minister has confirmed.
Dr Alex Allison provided the figures, which are also noted on the ongoing public consultation, in response to a written question from Lawrie Hooper.
Dr Allinson said the current estimate is “that the Levy will raise an additional £26 to £28 million per year is based on income tax data for the 2022/23 tax year”.
He said this is based on the assumption that the tax is rated at 2% and includes a “levy free amount of £14,750″.
