A 21-year-old from Ramsey has been fined after admitting having 2.6g of cannabis.
Matthew Boyde was sentenced by magistrates on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court that police carried out a search warrant on his address on July 29 when they found a tub containing cannabis on a TV stand.
Tests found it to be 2.6g of cannabis bush.
In an interview Boyde admitted it was his, saying he it helps him sleep.
Defence advocate Kaitlyn Shimmin said her client, a fisherman, deserved credit for his early guilty plea and cooperation with the police.
She added that he was going through the process of getting a prescription for medicinal cannabis.
Magistrates fined him £750 and ordered him to pay £125 in costs, which he offered to pay at a rate of £20 a week.
