FC Isle of Man let slip a two goal lead to kick off their NWCFL Premier Division with a draw on Saturday evening.
The Ravens drew 2-2 with Chadderton having led 2-0 in the first half.
Ste Whitley gave the Ravens the lead on 10 minutes, with Charlie Higgins doubling the lead on the 32nd minute.
As the Ravens looked set to go into the break with a two goal advantage, Muis Bibire Bello headed home on the stroke of half-time to make it 2-1.
Paying the Penalty
While the Ravens appeared to be holding firm for the win, Chadderton’s Matthew Crothers levelled from the spot after Al Maitland was adjudged to have used a hand to block a shot after a low corner was riffled towards goal.
The Ravens thought they should have had a penalty in added time but the referee ruled the Chadderton defender had won the ball.
The referee then bizarrely awarded a corner despite the ball having not gone out of play, much to the anger of both sides.
Ultimately the game would end 2-2, with the Ravens faithful left to ponder what could’ve been.
Manager Paul Jones spoke candidly about his frustrations after the game. His side will be back in action in Tuesday evening away at Irlam.
