Vagabonds Ladies faced a tough test on Saturday as they went down 52-31 away to Winnington Park, with several players asked to cover unfamiliar positions in a challenging encounter.
The hosts flew out of the traps, crossing for three quick tries inside the opening exchanges.
However, the Manx side refused to let their heads drop and grew into the contest.
Just before the interval, Bea O’Neill sliced through the Winnington defence to score the first of her three tries, providing a crucial boost before half-time.
Second Half
After the break, a dominant forward display saw Charlotte Hird stand out in the lineout, stealing opposition ball and providing clean possession.
This allowed O’Neill to break from halfway and dot down again.
Corinna Daly, covering at fly-half for the day, found herself back amongst the pack as Vagas forwards gained momentum, she powered over from five metres out.
Further tries followed from Becka Hicks and O’Neill, who completed her hat-trick, with Sammie Mac successfully converting three.
Winnington scored two late tries in the final five minutes to wrap up the win as Vagas went down fighting.
