Roadworks staff verbally abused

The Department of Infrastructure been made aware of incidents involving verbal abuse directed at its roadworks staff.

The Department says that “while we recognise that temporary works may cause inconvenience, we stand against any form of mistreatment”.

It says its priority is “ensuring a safe working environment for our team”.

The Department says it appreciates everyone who slows down near roadwork zones.

It asks for the general public to have patience and understanding as the DOI team works to complete improvements and essential maintenance.

Temporary speed limits

As of next week there will be a temporary speed limits in place on the Baldhoon Road, Lonan.

From Monday (February 5) there will be temporary speed limits of 30 and 40 mph on the Baldhoon Road in Lonan whilst a team from the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) are working.

The DOI team at that location will be maintaining verges and doing ditching work.

It is anticipated that the DOI team will be on site for up to two weeks.

The Department of Infrastructure have asked for the general public to ‘please slow down’.

The Department said that these are mobile works and it is likely if you are making a return trip on the road that the team will be working at a different location.
