The Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann caught up with the first recipient of its postgraduate bursary award.
The Rotary Bursary has enabled Saoirse Matthews of Foxdale to enroll on a two-year Postgraduate Masters degree at Lund University in Sweden.
Prior to studying in Sweden, Saoirse gained a 2:1 honours degree in Geography from Oxford University.

The Masters degree course is on development related fields in direct poverty reduction and other aspects of social and institutional development – issues which run at the heart of Rotary’s work across the world.
Alongside her studies Saoirse will be linking up with the local Rotary Club in Lund.
After successfully completing her Masters degree Saoirse intends to follow a career in International Development Aid and policy
Funding for the Bursary has come from the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann Charitable Trust with match funding from the Rotary Foundation charity.
