Southern 100 racing has thanked Dave Molyneux for his ‘continued support’ of the southside races since his first entry in 1984 to his latest in 2017.
Earlier this week, the most successful sidecar driver in Isle of Man TT Races’ history, Dave Molyneux, announced his retirement from the sport.
The now 60-year-old made his debut at the ‘friendly races’ in 1984 taking second place with passenger Paul Craine in the Sidecar Consolation Race.
1985 saw the same pairing take their first race victory in the Consolation race. The following year, with another Paul in the chair (Kneale) they took what would become for Dave the first of six Souther 100 Sidecar Championships.
Southern 100 Racing says its been ‘honoured’ to watch Dave’s racing around the Billown Course and ‘proud’ to see his name and acheivements added to the Champions Board in the Club Headquarters.
Molyneux retires
Paul Phillips, Head of Motorsport said: “Dave is undoubtedly one of the greatest competitors the TT has ever seen. His determination to win has always been matched by his ability to innovate and he has been at the forefront of sidecar racing for decades.
“I’ve known Dave all my life and he has been a massive help to me personally during my time working on the TT with advice and support for which I will be forever grateful.
