Hopefully we are all starting to recover from Storm Éowyn, and looking ahead to the weekend with less windy conditions.
There was much excitement surrounding Éowyn and the red weather warning it brought, especially when the Gov declared a ‘major incident’.
There is little arguing over how horrendous it was, but it does make me wonder what would happen if we had some seriously extreme weather e.g. 120mph winds and flooding, or when coastal erosion inevitably takes over.
Real talk for a second, what would we actually do? Is there a big red panic button in Cabinet Office? (Genuine question here).
Bye Bye 80mph
We are waving goodbye to the 80mph winds, and welcoming back a more workable breeze.
The sunny spells will continue at first and dry for much of today, before then turning cloudy with rain for a time this evening, occasionally heavy.
Fresh to strong southwest wind and a top temperature of 7°C.
Dry to start tomorrow with bright or sunny intervals then rain arriving in the afternoon that may be heavy at times.
Strong winds will return tomorrow evening with southeasterly gusts of 40-50mph.
Rain Glorious Rain
Looking into next week is a bit annoying for those of us who were hoping that Éowyn had dried out our land.
Ran glorious rain is on the horizon, with Monday forecast 15mm of the wet stuff.
There will be occasional showers merging into longer spells of rain at times on Monday.
With a SW 20-25mph, soon backing SE 10-20mph, backing NE 20-25mph later.
Tuesday is forecast to be rainy and sunny – you can’t win them all.
There will be occasional showers which will soon become isolated with sunny intervals.
There will be ‘strong winds’ (nothing like Friday) to start, with NE 20-25, soon backing N 10-20, becoming SE 15-20 later.
Enjoy your actual weekend and hopefully you find your missing wheelie bins and trampolines.
