Government House hosted a reception this week to honour Sir Mark Cavendish’s knighthood.
Sir Can was knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours List in 2024.
Although he received his knighthood over a year ago, his continuing professional commitments, including his historic final stage victory at the Tour de France, meant that an opportunity to celebrate at home had proved elusive until now.
Government House said: “In keeping with Sir Mark’s wishes, the occasion was a private and family-focused event.
“However, His Excellency was pleased to arrange a special Guard of Honour on Sir Mark’s arrival, formed by young local cyclists. What a fitting tribute to someone who has inspired so many in the Isle of Man and around the world!”
