Sophie Kaighin and Issy Kennaugh both competed at the Northern Athletics Indoor Championships for young age groups in Sheffield.
Both the girls competed the Under 15 age group at the event which was held on Sunday (February 2).
Sophie, who represented Manx Harriers, competed in the high jump, long jump and 60 metres hurdles.
She achieved a new indoor personal best of 1.35 metres for high jump which equals her outdoor pb; She was very close to clearing 1.40m.
She also achieved a time of 11.08 seconds for the hurdles, just shy of her pb of 10.83 sec which she got at the last Manchester indoor meeting in January.
Manx Action in Sheffield
Issy, who represented Northern AC, performed extremely well also. She competed in the 60 metres and 60m hurdles.
She clocked a new pb time of 8.53 seconds in the 60m and made it through to the semi-finals.
She then competed in Heat 3 for the hurdles which she won with a time of 10.07sec – another new pb – and made it through to the final.
She ran an incredibly strong race in the final and finished with a time of 10.19 sec.
