Summit Grappling Academy’s competition team has returned from the British Open with two new British Champions.
Marco Ferrara and Sorrelle Williams both secured gold at a competition which saw stacked divisions and a record number of entries.
Ferrara made his competition debut, showing composure and technical advantage to win on points after a dominant performance. Williams came back at a new belt level after claiming the title last year, and put in the performance of her career to date, storming back from a first-round loss with two submission wins to become British Champion for 2026.
Summit took a large team of 22 competitors to the event, returning with 11 medals – two gold, eight silver and one bronze. For many, this competition was the first they had taken part in, alongside their more experienced teammates.
Putting in notable performances, Maisie Meban, Israel Khalil, Noah Glover and Esther Patterson all brought home well-earned silver medals with wins over tough and technical opponents. Theo Sloane also took a first-round win in a large division.
