The Parish Where You Can’t Spend a Penny

There will no longer be any public toilets in Marown as the Parish Commissioners refuse to fund the running costs.

The current Board of Marown Commissioners is no longer willing to fund the running of the only public toilet in the Parish.

This is despite Marown’s rates increase for the 2025/26 year being the largest.

No Toilet Stops in Marown

Marown Commissioners have asked that Marown Memorial Playing Fields take on the responsibility.

The toilet is located on Marown Memorial Playing Fields property, but is utilised by everybody.

The Playing Fields voluntary committee says it “cannot afford to run the public toilet”.

No Funds

In a post on Facebook, the playing fields said: “The Playing Fields Voluntary Committee cannot afford to run the public toilet having received no funds from the Commissioners to help maintain & upgrade our facilities for several years, despite many requests.

“At present the electricity & water costs for this public toilet are paid for by the Charity.”

Marown Playing Fields ask that members of the public raise this matter with any prospective Commissioner candidates.
