Onchan residents are being invited to open up their gardens to help raise money for charities with the return of Onchan Secret Gardens next summer.
In May 2024, people in Onchan opened up their secret gardens to the public for the very first time on what proved to be a brilliantly sunny weekend.
Onchan MHK Rob Callister said: “We showcased twelve remarkable gardens, including Government House, and thanks to your support, we raised an impressive £4,330 for two fantastic local charities.”
He added: “With your continued help, we hope to host the ‘Onchan Secret Gardens’ event again in 2026. If you reside within the Parish or Village of Onchan and have a garden of any size (be it private, local authority, a business, or a school) we invite you to get involved!”
2026
The event aims to feature 12 to 25 gardens open to the public over the weekend, with visiting hours from 11am to 4pm.
Mr Callister said: “I am delighted to announce that Sir John and Lady Lorimer have already committed to opening the gardens at Government House once more in 2026.”
Provisional dates have been set for Saturday June 13 and Sunday June 14 2026.
“We just need a few more gardens to ensure the event’s success – so please consider getting involved!” Mr Callister urged. “All gardens will be covered by indemnity insurance for the event.”
The 2026 event will support Sight Matters and Housing Matters.
