An appeal to raise money to repatriate Chris Garrett, who died volunteering in explosive disposal in Ukraine, has raised over £24,000.
Mr Garrett, an army veteran and founder of the charity Prevail Together, died earlier this week.
The charity said: “Each of us at Prevail are grateful to Chris’s friends, colleagues and community for their support at this devastating time, and for the respect and privacy afforded to his family.
We are still awaiting further information, which will take some time and focused on recovery and repatriation.
“In the meantime, many have asked for an avenue to donate towards Chris’s legacy and memory.
“We are hosting this Fundariser to cover his Repatriation and Funeral expenses, with any additional funding directed towards longer term support for his partner Courtney and their young daughter.
“We will miss him acutely. His legacy and his hard work will forever Prevail.”
