All drivers participating in track days at Jurby Airfield now must have a valid car or motorcycle licence.
Motorsport event organisers, RPM Events said that the changes have been brought forward due to booking requirements set by the Department for Enterprise.
As a result of the changes, in order to participate in a motorcycle track day you must hold a full valid motorcycle licence.
Similarly for a car track day or drifting you must hold a full valid drivers licence.
Licence Required For Track Days
RPM Events said: “Unfortunately we are aware this may prevent some participants from being able to take part in our events and we are working to see how we are able to have this requirement changed in order to allow non government issued licence holders to participate in events as they have done over 4+ years with us.
“We have enquired with the department for further information regarding this new requirement and the departments reasoning for it but at present we have not received any response.
“We will continue to provide any further details to you and hope to have this issue resolved so that we can continue to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for riders and drivers of all abilities and ages.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and urge those participants who wish to participate in our upcoming events but are no longer able to due to the new requirements to contact us as soon as possible.”
