Tributes Paid to Jean

Bride Church TT Teas has paid warm tribute to Jean Wilson, one of the original founders of the parish’s famous TT tea tradition, following her passing at the age of 85.

Jean, remembered as a gentle, talented and much loved presence in the Bride community, was known to generations of visitors and volunteers for her work in the TT Teas kitchen, where she could always be found making sandwiches to order.

Her baking became part of the event’s identity, especially her homemade drop scones, described as irreplaceable, and her lemon meringue pie, which “always sold out quickly”.

Her son Dave has shared a photograph of Jean on a Vespa scooter, believed to have been taken at The Kimmeragh Farm. The family hopes anyone who remembers whether she actually rode the scooter might come forward.

In a statement, the TT Teas team said Jean was “a lovely lady with a gentle nature” and that she would be deeply missed. Condolences were extended to Jill, Dave and their families.
