The Manx National Farmers Union will see its Petition brought forward to Tynwald members this week.
MNFU launched the petition after a statistic was released that only 6% of the food purchased on the Isle of Man is produced on island.
In a world where food security is becoming more of a concern, the MNFU want to challenge UK supermarkets and the government to make more Manx produce available.
In comparison to our neighbours, the United Kingdom is 40% reliant on imports, and Jersey 80%, whereas the Isle of Man is now 94% reliant on imported produce.
Farmers Petition
Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh will be bringing the petition to Tynwald during this weeks sitting.
The petition, that was signed by 1,800 people demands that all UK supermarkets operating on the Isle of Man must procure, supply and promote Manx produce so that it is available on the shelves, including seasonally available produce.
It also asks that Tynwald prioritise using locally produced food for all Government operated services, including schools and hospitals.

MNFU said: “Tynwald must consider the consequences when IOM Government imposes more costs, regulation and restriction on business and residents, and what we as a society and economy, get in return.
“We have asked that our petition is not diluted, but fully supported by our elected representatives.
“Thank you to all of the good people of the Isle of Man that supported our petition and continue to support and enjoy great Manx Produce!”
