Tynwald members will be consulted if changes are proposed to the government’s economic strategy the Chief Minister has said.
The commitment was given in a written answer to Lib Vannin leader Lawrie Hooper who asked about the budget and appointment process for the strategy’s refresh.
Alf Cannan said it is his intention “to create or consult an advisory panel to oversee this process”.
He added that the panel “is likely to be comprised of industry representatives and Economic National Strategy Board representatives”, but that “the details are still to be finalised”.
Not Required
Addressing the lack of prior Tynwald approval for the announcement, the Chief Minister said that approval “was not required as no changes to the Economic Strategy have been formally proposed”.
He said instead members were informed on September 22, ahead of the public announcement.
He added: “If any changes are subsequently proposed, Tynwald will be appropriately consulted, and approval will be sought where applicable.”
