Work has begun on installing the island’s first ultra‑rapid public electric vehicle charger at the Douglas Sea Terminal.
Manx Utilities says the new unit will deliver up to 160kW to a single vehicle and will sit alongside the existing charger, increasing capacity at the site to four bays.
Public charging demand continues to rise, with 476 sessions recorded across the network in the past week.
Chair John Wannenburgh MHK said the Sea Terminal is a key transport hub and a suitable location for the first ultra‑rapid charger, offering faster charging at a busy site.
The charger is expected to be operational by the end of July, subject to progress.
