An armed forces veteran is aiming to complete the equivalent of the Parish Walk in the NSC Gym.
Mike Ryan from Onchan is looking to complete the 85 miles using a hand crank, a machine powered by a his arms.
Looking to raise funds for Bridge The Gap, Mike has already raised more than £680.
He said: “I decided to set myself a personal goal of completing the parish walk in a day. As some of you will know, I am a wheelchair user so taking part in the actual event itself is not viable, nor is taking up the challenger on the Manx roads 😉.
“Together with my gym friends at the NSC, i have come up with the idea of completing the 86 miles on a hand crank machine using just arm power to complete the distance with the NSC Gym as my base for the day.
“To make it even more challenging I only have 12 hours to complete it!!!
“My chosen charity, Bridge the gap IOM is based at the Round House in Braddan provides children with a variety of health and social needs a warm and safe places to meet.
“As one of the islands smaller charities £500 would mean so much and enable them to purchase some much needed play and craft supplies.”
