Isle of Man Post Office has says it will seek new operators for its counters in Onchan and Foxdale after the current providers decided not to continue.
The changes form part of a wider restructuring of the Island’s postal network.
The organisation says the move is necessary due to changing customer behaviour, new regulatory requirements, and the recent government decision to withdraw vehicle and driving licence services from post offices.
While the post office insists no communities will be left without access to postal services, the loss of the two counters has raised concerns about provision in the central Onchan and Foxdale areas.
IOMPO said both providers had made “business decisions not to continue”.
A spokesman said the organisation would “seek alternative solutions” and that its “priority is clear: to maintain continuity of service for the people who rely on them”.
Centralised
Meanwhile, face-to-face services for benefits, bill payments and cheque encashment are to be centralised in just five locations: Douglas, Peel, Port Erin, Castletown and Ramsey.
The move means residents in Onchan and Foxdale who rely on these services will have to travel further afield.
Stu Peters MHK, Chairman of Isle of Man Post Office, said: “We know how important local postal services are to Island life. These changes are about protecting those services for the long term, while recognising how customers now choose to use them.”
He added: “By evolving our network in this way, we are keeping services accessible in every community, supporting our retail partners, and making sure the Post Office remains sustainable and fit for the future.”
