Watch: Island Hosts Agricultural Awards

The Isle of Man is this week playing host to the Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) Awards, a major event in the UK agricultural calendar.

The 2025 ceremony follows the historic win last year by Manx farmers David and Rob Cooil—the first time an Isle of Man entry has taken the top prize.

The Silver Lapwing Award, often likened to the “Eurovision of farm management and wildlife conservation,” recognises excellence in sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and balancing food production with environmental care.

This year’s event is particularly special, as tradition dictates that the winning region hosts the following year’s ceremony—bringing farmers and judges from across the UK to the island.

We popped down to Ballagawne Farm in Colby to meet David and Rob and find out more.
